DRUG-COATED BALLOONS

Next-generation drug-coated balloon technology

Surmodics develops next-generation drug-coated balloons for the treatment of peripheral artery disease (PAD), using proprietary drug-excipient formulations for optimal drug delivery to the vessel wall and manufactured using an innovative process for coating consistency.

Designed to deliver therapeutic outcomes with a targeted drug dose, efficient drug transfer, and a reduction in downstream embolization.

SurVeil™ Drug-Coated Balloon

The SurVeil™ Drug-Coated Balloon, now offered by Abbott, uses next-generation technology to treat femoropopliteal PAD. In a head-to-head randomized trial, SurVeil DCB three-year primary patency was comparable to the industry-leading device—which has a 75% higher paclitaxel drug dose.1
